W. Edward Shipe is a member of the firm, practicing in the areas of commercial litigation with a focus on complex cases involving contracts, finance, and real estate. Mr. Shipe also provides business advice and real estate transactional services to several local companies.
Mr. Shipe is a counsellor in addition to a litigator and seeks to advise clients from a business-oriented perspective that originates from his background in the commercial real estate development business.
Mr. Shipe is a trial lawyer who has successfully tried cases in Tennessee State Court and Federal Court representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Of recent note, Mr. Shipe successfully obtained a judgment at trial for a local company in a case involving international and cross-country business, and successfully obtained a judgment piercing the corporate veil for another local company seeking damages for breach of a surface coal mining contract requiring post-mining reclamation.
Mr. Shipe practices in both State and Federal Courts and has been admitted pro hac vice in federal courts as varied as Washington and Nevada.
Mr. Shipe received his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School where he focused his studies on corporate and business law, receiving a Certificate of Law and Business from the Law School and the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. He attended college at Carson-Newman University and was name the Outstanding Graduate in Economics.
